Leah graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2012 and has been working as a paediatric dietitian since 2013.
Initially, Leah started her paediatric dietetics in a rural Hunter New England Health hospital and ran a paediatric outpatient clinic as well as being a Go4Fun leader. In 2015, Leah started working at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead where she was employed as a special needs and enteral feeding dietitian, but also covered general medical, general surgical, burns unit, oncology and cardiology.
In 2018 after the birth of her first child, Leah and her family relocated back to Newcastle. In 2019 she started working at John Hunter Children’s Hospital in the paediatric diabetes and endocrinology team. In 2020 she then started working with the paediatric allergy and immunology team. Leah has extensive dietetic experience in food allergies, disability, enteral feeding, cardiology, oncology, SCN, NICU, feeding clinic, surgical and medical wards. Leah is a senior dietitian and regularly mentors other dietitians in paediatrics, she lectures at The University of Newcastle for Nutrition and Dietetics students, and in 2024 was the secretariat of the NSW Health Paediatric Dietitians Network.
In 2023, Leah started her lactation consultant training and hopes to sit her IBCLC exam in 2025. After having her own children, she realised breastfeeding could be difficult and it could be tricky to find the right support. This led her down the path of her lactation consultant training and is passionate in helping you with your breastfeeding journey. Leah is currently being mentored by two very experienced Newcastle/Hunter IBCLC’s.
Leah lives with her husband and three children. She is an avid horse rider, basketballer, and has her first degree black belt in karate.
